Sorry folks, this site will be closing in October 2009Posted by Davo
I have had my site hosted with Bluehost.com since 2003 and it now appears that individual customers do not matter. Due to an overpayment on my part, Bluehost owes me a paltry $US10, however, they refuse to refund it and have refused to answer my last two emails. A credit card payment from me to Bluehost was refused by my bank (the largest in Australia - The National Bank) and after asking why, I was informed that the National Bank considers Bluehost.com a fraudulent company.
Bluehost (run by Matt Heaton) has degenerated into an oversized, money grubbing hosting company which employs people who simply do not care about customers.
If you want to find out more just Google "Bluehost Sucks" and you will find countless entries from dissatisfied customers, including many who have been ripped off for many hundreds of dollars.
Many have had their sites offline for indeterminate periods with no explanation, have had their fully paid up hosting removed for no valid reason, overcharged with no refund, support staff hanging up the phone on customers and much more.
I dislike disreputable and unethical people such as Matt Heaton and so I am letting my hosting expire with Bluehost.com. I don't want to set up the site elsewhere as the work involved for me to do this would cause me far too much stress.
I hope by having this site running since 2003 that I have brought a small measure of happiness to many people. I know that it has given me a great deal of pleasure to read the many comments in my guestbook from people who have found this site useful.
I would most strongly urge anyone thinking of hosting a website to keep well clear of Bluehost.com, and if you are an existing customer then I would suggest seriously thinking or transferring to a more reputable host.
As for me:
I've had enough of the greed and nastiness that seems to now permeate all parts of the Internet. I wish you all a happy and peaceful life and please remember that tolerance for others starts with you.
Have a good life
